- Start by removing any hose that is on the drum.
Pull the hose forward and coil it on the ground for now. You may find it
faster to have another person hold the reel steady while you do this.
- Once at the end of the hose
Inside the drum, your hose will be attached to the inlet in one of two ways. If you see a hose connector on the end of the hose, you don’t need to do anything else.
Your cart or reel has the right connection for Tuffhoze – simply disconnect the
current hose by holding onto the hose connector and pulling the sleeve back to release it.
Now, you can connect your Tuffhoze in the same way and then begin to coil it onto the
drum making sure to keep the hose layers even as you turn the drum.
If you see the hose going into a grey nut, undo the nut by turning it anti-clockwise.
It will loosen and then eventually fall back on to the hose. Remove the hose from the
connection by holding the reel tightly and pulling on the hose to release it.
- Remove the old spindle
The spindle runs from the outside of the drum to the inside, carrying water from the
inlet on the outside of the cart to the hose coil on the inside. If you have an inlet hose
on the outside, please remove this first before completing the next step.
With your hand inside the drum, push on the spindle so that it will start to come out of the
side of the cart or reel. You will not need to force it, but moving it about while pushing it
may help to move it as it could be a tight fit.
- Add the new Tuffhoze compatible spindle
The new spindle is made of two parts. The first is a long part with a connector on one end
and a screw thread on the other. The second is a much smaller connector part.
Make sure these two parts are separated before you start, by simply unscrewing them.
Now, hold the longer spindle part so that the end with the screw thread is pointing towards
the inside of the drum. Push it into the hole on the outside of the cart or reel, so that you
end up with the screw thread on the inside and the hose connector on the outside.
As you push the spindle through the side and towards the drum, you may need to wriggle
the drum so that the two holes line up. No force will be needed to push the spindle through,
so, take your time and gently work it through to the other side.
As you get close to the end, make sure to align the four ribs on the spindle with the four
matching cut-outs on the outside. Now, on the inside of the drum, take the smaller connector part of the spindle and screw it on to the thread by turning it clockwise until tight. It may help to hold the outside of the spindle tightly against the side of the reel or cart, to stop it from moving while you tighten it. 
You can now connect the Tuffhoze to the connector on the inside of the spindle, and your
usual inlet hose to the connector on the outside of the spindle.
