The most likely cause is grit or dirt in the trigger. In which case, dismantle the trigger, clean thoroughly and replace. If the spray fails to shut immediately and continues to dribble out it could be due to air being trapped in the lance. To remove any air, hold the lance in a vertical position pointing away from you, toggle the trigger on and off until the air is discharged, then continue spraying.
